‘Silenced’
Medium: Mixed Media & Found Objects
Dimensions: 36”H x 12”W x 15”D
From the Artist: We have silenced ourselves. The gagging of imagination suffocates ideas. To acknowledge a collective permission’s of masses to engage in conceptualist activity profoundly limits boundaries of thoughts. The climate as we have seemingly unilaterally determined in our grave divisions in the United States is to be silenced, keeping your thoughts infernally to those of like opine. While believing in the silence at intervals such as a silent pause in a miles piece. This silence can offer a profound depth to the experience of listening. It is a chance to hear in the absence of any discourse.
‘Roulette’
Medium: Mixed Media & Found Objects
Dimensions: 29”H x 17”W x 14”D
From the Artist: The work is bound in found rubber gloves, discarded and imprinted by the wearer, emblematic of the many chance operations taken. As we progress forward and continue the work to restructure toward a healthier society, we will all collectively have experienced our global connectivity regardless of the way one hedges their bets. The piece explores making choices based on the odds through the prism of one’s history. ‘Roulette’ envisions our engagement in the world as a gamble. Built early in isolation of the pandemic. Seeing the roulette wheel in relationship to the wheel of fortune. Responding to the impact of the heightened feeling of potential risk in the choices we make simply to navigate our lives. The incomprehensible change in our daily lives amplifying our survival is, in part, dependent on our collective ability to adapt to changing conditions.
